Museum bets Terminator

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian photo

Museum bets T4
Museum wins over T4 for the dough 4 both overseas and domestic. T4 will not be opened for another 2 weeks in overseas. Angels & Demons fell to #4 domestically, while still holding up well internationally.
Ben Stiller, 43, reprises his role as a night security guard, this time at the center of a battle involving historical figures at the massive Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The cast includes Robin Williams as former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt and Amy Adams as aviatrix Amelia Earhart. The film cost about $125 million to make, Fox said.
While there are overcrowded action thrillers in the movie markets, there isn't much family friendly fare in the box office and that might be one of the reason that explains why Museum becomes #1 at the box office.

Cannes Film Festival Recommends

Cannes for me is not really a place to predict future film trends, expect for screening good oddities that could possibility stand out in the Oscar season. I do like the fact that this will be the first major foreign film fest with a bit more attention to foreign films, we hope??! When one cannot really watch too many screenings or its not available to see in your locale, one may just base on the film with a grain of salt via film reviews. Stay tuned!
This year’s Cannes film festival, with its bias toward former Palme d’Or
winners and a liberal smattering of stars either established (Johnny Depp,
Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz) or thrillingly on the rise (Michael Fassbender,
Abbie Cornish, virtually the entire young cast of Taking Woodstock), brings
with it the promise of artistic integrity and serious red-carpet action.
This is technically known as “Essence of Cannes”. Yet however idiosyncratic
or unpredictable the films themselves may be, the line-up proves that this
most illustrious of festivals is a well-oiled machine in which even apparent
surprises have precedents and can be telegraphed well in advance.
