3D, Final Destination wins @the box office

The Final Destination photo

Final Destination is #1 @ the box office earning approximately $28.3m. The Quentin Tarantino pic "Inglourious Basterds," fell 47% to an estimated $20 million from 3,165 runs for a domestic cume of $73.8 million. Overseas, the film grossed an estimated $19.4 million from 2,891 runs in 31 territories for a foreign total of $59.1 million. Worldwide tally is a boffo $132.9 million.
3D are now becoming more popular and perhaps more speculator to the audiences to watch on the screens. Sci-fi in general, does well in the box office and also have the issues of not having long legs, we shall see how Final Destination do. Unless its Star Wars, Terminator series and Back to the Future entreprises, sci-fi films can be not too memorable.
The rest: Woodstock did not earn their box office expectations, with $3.7m and @ the 9th spot.

Yahoo thinks these Fall TV Shows are the Worst

Pity them, oh well, you can judge after all these previews and shows all come out! If TV shows exec are really running out of ideas, I will think the only show that deserves it would probably be for now: The Cleveland Show @ Fox.

'Inglourious Basterds' the king of box office

Shorts photo

As usual, Brad Pitt's Inglourious Basterds is #1 at the box office and Brad Pitt's name would pretty much hype at the theaters. I heard of this movie since late last year. District 9 is in #2 spot. Most of the other 4 spots were in 2-4weeks run movies. The other new entrants were: Shorts, which tells the story of a boy who discovers a magic wishing stone. The family movie earned 6.6 million dollars in box office receipts.
Post Grad, at #10 spot, a comedy about a college graduate who moves back in with her eccentric family while she tries to find a job, which earned 2.8 million in its first week in theaters.

District 9 Creeps on top of the domestic box office

District 9 becomes the #1 @ the box office and with its website and hype no wonder months of advertising that film would succeed.  How long it would make the money, who knows?  The top few of the box office looks so like last week, expect for The Time Traveller's Wife, which is new to the entry.
In #9 spot, Disney's "Ponyo" grossed an estimated $3.5 million, its originally an animated Japanese adventure centered on a 5-year-old boy and his relationship with a goldfish princess who longs to become human.
It seems Sony dominated most of the box office weekend.

Entertainment Tuesday

Warner Brothers and Lego are partnering to make a movie details are pretty rough: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118007162.html?categoryid=13&cs=1&nid=2562
People are more in tuned with reality shows, yikes!
Last week saw impressive performances from the veteran likes of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance," NBC's "America's Got Talent" and CBS' "Big Brother," but it also ended with a couple of newbies struggling out of the gate -- the Eye's "There Goes the Neighborhood" and the Alphabet's "Shark Tank."
TLC's "Jon and Kate Plus 8" returned from its hiatus to good numbers (1.9/5 in 18-49, 4.08m average)in 2 segments.
Daniel Radcliff supports LGBT youth helpline with an undisclosed amount of sum of monies.

G.I. Joe goes worldwide

G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra becomes the #1 @ the box office worldwide with the expected $100mUS earnings in total by the end of this weekend. Though, the film did not went through the usual channel of the critics preview expect for a few bloggers and selected audiences prior for the Friday viewing. Julia and Julie starring Meryl Streep on the role of Julia Child is in the #2 spot. The movie get very good word of mouth reviews, that would really help the movie longevity. G-Force & Harry Potter round up in the top 4 places in the North American box office. Funny People ended up with in the 2nd week, close to $8m US this weekend.

Green Hornet has its Kato

Taiwanese singer-actor Jay Chou has joined the cast of Columbia's "The Green Hornet" opposite Seth Rogen in the role of sidekick Kato. Hornet will be directed by Michel Gondry.
The Green Hornet is a fictional masked crime fighter. Originally created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker for an American radio program in the 1930s, the character has appeared in other media as well, including film serials in the 1940s, a network television program in the 1960s, and multiple comic book series from the 1940s to the 1990s. Though various incarnations sometimes change details, in most incarnations the Green Hornet is Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher by day who by night goes out in his masked "Green Hornet" identity to fight crime as a vigilante, accompanied by his similarly masked Asian manservant Kato and driving a car, equipped with advanced technology, called "Black Beauty". The Green Hornet is often portrayed as possessing fair to above average hand-to-hand combat skills and is often armed with a gun that sprays knock-out gas (a sonic blast weapon called the "Hornet's Sting" was added to his arsenal for the TV series).

Funny People a tad modest @the box office

People doesn't necessary love comedy drama, but when you don't have much selection in the theaters, this is pretty much what you choose to see: Funny People. I did not like the title at all. Would I crave to see this movie, maybe. Yeah, Rotten Tomatoes gave really rotten smells to the movie! It still managed to earned about $23.4m US and #1 in the North American box office. The only other new entrant in the movie would be: Aliens in the Attic. It was in #5 spot with $7.8mUS. Trailer was for kids, was it trying to aim for young adults??
Next weekend's biz is expected to be dominated by Par's launch of "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra." Also opening will be Sony's "Julie and Julia," starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, and Universal's thriller "A Perfect Getaway."
