Some cheesy title is a hit for the 2nd week, meanwhile sci-fi movie, Surrogates, went on to the 2nd place on the box office. Sounds like a bad title that went wrong! Michael Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story” opened limited and earned $240,000 at four engagements Friday-Sunday, achieving the top per-screen average this year at $60,000 as the docu bested. The rest of the box office remains very much similar expect: Fame, Pandorum and Surrogates. Inglourious Basterds rounds up @ the top 10 with long life shelf @ the box office after a month!

Tyler Perry had a good Weekend
"I Can Do Bad All by Myself," based on Perry's stage play, delivered above expectations and underlines Perry's ability to generate dependable pics at a moderate cost -- with no sign of audience fatigue for the franchise. The first weekend of fall is traditionally slow, so Perry's pic was considered a success, especially for a drama. The launch represented the third best opening for the multihyphenate, trailing only comedies "Madea Goes to Jail" with $41 million and "Madea's Family Reunion" with $30 million.
This movie is #1 @ the box office with 24$m. 9, a sci-fi movie is #2, Inglourious Basterds remains well done @ the box office #3 spot.

If you read my Twitter about Toronto International Film Festival, they are just simply simplistic. Here is a tidbit. Matt Damon was in the red carpet briefly and had to rush in to the movies, since there isn't much time before the movie starts. The rest, oh well, check out what AFP had to say.

3D movies really has legs
Final Destination stayed at the top spot for the second week at the row- $12.4m. All About Steve, a romantic comedy starring Sandra Bullock, earned about $11m. Her hair did not really attract me, the clumsiness might attract some audiences to watch her in the theatres. We have to wait til Monday to see the rest of the box office results as it is the long weekend in the States and Canada.

In Brief: Venice
"Videocracy," the documentary that takes a critical look at Italian media tycoon-turned-prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and the influence of television on Italian culture. I was not surprised that documentaries are popular these few years. There were other star sightings: Nicholas Cage, Eva Mendes, Viggo Mortensen, and more will coming...

Disney brought Marvel $$$
As a fan of both Disney and Marvel comics, its not too shocking, but a little bit taken aback that Disney brought Marvel for $$$$4billon US! Stan Lee, who co-created many of Marvel Entertainment Inc's most famous characters, gave Disney's takeover bid a thumbs-up on Monday and waved off fears the entertainment conglomerate might undermine decades-old comics mythology.
Hopefully we will see more good works between these two big names! via Reuters
